Arrive in Beijing today to start this exciting adventure. You are met by our tour guide at the airport and transferred to the hotel in downtown.

Day 2   Beijing

You start this day in Beijing with a walking tour of the Tiananmen Square, a center stage of modern Chinese history.

Then move on to visit the adjacent Forbidden City, seat of China's imperial rule in the Ming and Qing dynasties.

After lunch, take an excursion to the Great Wall at Badaling, where the Wall winds up and down on ridges of green mountains.

Go to a famous local restaurant this evening to enjoy an Imperial Cuisine Dinner.

Day 3   Beijing g Baotou

Enjoy some relaxing time this morning before you head for the airport. Travel by air to Baotou and arrive in early afternoon. Change to vehicle and travel south to see the Yellow River and the Singing Sand Dunes.

Return to the city by the evening and enjoy a dinner in the hotel.

Day 4   Baotou g Hohhot You travel east from Baotou today into the mountains to visit the famous Wudangzhao Monastery. It is located 70 km (44 miles) northeast of Baotou. Built in 1749 and resembling Tashilunpo Monastery in Shigatse, Tibet, it is the only intact Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Inner Mongolia today. The monastery belongs to the Yellow Sect (Gelupa) and it is a vast religious complex. Travel to Hohhot in the afternoon by vehicle and check in at hotel upon arrival. Holiday Inn Hohhot   <B-L-D>

Day 5   Hohhot g Xilamuren

Today you travel north by road to Xilamuren Grassland, which is located 90 kilometers outside of Hohhot. Here, you can ride camels, visit herdsmen's homes, watch Mongolian wrestling games and horse races, and join in the evening bonfire parties held in the open air after a typical herdsmen's dinner. Overnight in one of the Yurts.

Day 6   Xilamuren g Hohhot Enjoy a very refreshing walk on the grassland this morning. Then return to Hohhot by vehicle. In the afternoon you will visit the Five Pagodas Temple, Dazhou Monastery, and Tomb of Princess Wang Zhaojun. Have dinner in a local restaurant. Holiday Inn Hohhot   <B-D> Day 7   Hohhot g Bayan Huxu This morning you fly to Hailaer, a far northern frontier city in the Hulunbeier Grassland. Upon arrival, you immediately travel by motor vehicle to the Bayan Huxu

Grassland where verdant grass and colorful flowers cover the earth and the meandering Yimin River runs slowly through. Beside the river, the Mt. Bayan Huxu Obo is towering aloft.

Immerse yourself in this great setting by riding horses, taking part in ethnic sports, watching the sunset, and visiting families of herdsmen.

Day 8   Bayan Huxu g Erguna

After watching the sunrise and having breakfast at the camp, you board the bus again and head north deep into the grassland. Your next destination is Erguna, a land of vastness, naturalness and extreme beauty. You will stop a few times on the way and hike along the scenic trails.

Arrive at the village Enhe in the afternoon and visit a couple of local families and have dinner in their homes.

Day 9   Erguna g Hailaer

Today you explore the rich history of the Ergun region and the absolute natural beauty of the Ergun River Valley, enjoying the scenic views along the Chinese and Russian border.

Travel by vehicle in the afternoon to Hailaer and check in hotel by the evening.  Enjoy a delicious local cuisine dinner.

Day 10   Hailaer g Manzhouli Travel by train or vehicle to Manzhouli, a unique border town with Russia.  Upon arrival, go to visit Lake Hulun, (also called Lake Dalai), one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China, covering a total area of 2,339 square kilometers. Lake Hulun is a nice summer resort with a mild cold climate and pleasant landscape. Visitors can enjoy a full array of activities such as hiking, fishing, boating and bird watching. In the afternoon you will tour the exotic city of Manzhouli with its interesting architecture and multi-ethnic population.  Tour a border market and enjoy a Farewell Dinner tonight followed by a colorful Song & Dance Show. Day 11   Manzhouli g Beijing

Enjoy some down time this morning before flying back to Beijing in the afternoon. Transfer to hotel upon arrival.
