The company was first founded in December 1996 in Denver by Joseph Sinisi (graduate of Princeton University and Law School at University of Colorado) and Mark Huang (graduate of Peking University). The three categories are Frontier Odysseys, Adventures & Expeditions, and Off-The-Beaten-Path Journeys.
